O f   F a t e   a n d   F r i e n d s

By Marcelle La Cour

The winds of fate
have anew entwined
their far-flung strands
and blown us together...
again.

Friends, nay, more than this;
true in heart and deed
never really part.
Lives blown apart and split
by the drifting cracks in time,
and distances vast
in forgotten experience;
severed, denied our yearning search.

But now, of a sudden,
I see you!
guardian veils gust, then shatter
in shivering shards,
revealing a forgotten friend,
yet unforgotten.

Rare gifts
proclaiming your design
you reveal and offer up
for my startled wit
to gather ‘round me.

Quick and true,
your strength and sparkle
banish the twining,
sticking webs
that cling and clutch
at my dreams.

You prove again that you are, again,
And as ever,
my friend.
