| "On the Breath of Angels"
Medium:
Oil on Linen
Painting size:
16" x 20"
"I imagine stories at night. Just on the edge of twilight, visions, wondrous scenes of magic and metaphor come to me. My angel was one of them. I saw her, above the storms of our world, bright stars of hope on her breath spilling down to earth. In grace she rides the currents of twilight in her winged cloak of star-dusted heaven, her joy bringing understanding, compassion, forgiveness to those who reach out for their dreams.
In order to bring her to life on canvas, I endeavored to create a work wherein one could experience the vibrant translucency of the colors that heighten the emotional impact of the aura of the living angel that reaches out to you from within I developed a glowing depth of color throughout the painting by applying techniques I have evolved, based on the Old Masters, of layering glazes and scrubbed-in colors . . . |

This painting is gallery-wrapped: the 1 3/4" sides of the canvas are painted and wrapped around to the back, so no framing is necessary, unless one prefers it framed.

. . . I used blue and green Cobalts, Ultramarine and Lead White oils over a rose under-painting to capture the greens of earth and the blue hues of heaven where my angel merges into pale cobalt cloud.
