“In conceiving this painting, I wanted to create a work wherein one could experience a vibrant translucency and emotional impact, not only of the colors, but the aura of the living angel that reaches out to you from within. (Yes, I indeed have attempted to capture a live angel!) I strived to imbue her with those angelic qualities I appreciate: grace, understanding, tender compassion and an underlying joy.
To create a scene of transcendent beauty, I applied the techniques I have evolved, based on the Old Masters, glazing and scrubbing layers of blue and green Cobalts, Ultramarine and Lead-white oils over a rose under-painting, coloring it with the blue hues of heaven and the greens of earth. This created a glowing depth of color that is not so easy to see without viewing the actual painting . . . |

This painting is gallery-wrapped: the 1 3/4" sides of the canvas are painted and wrapped around to the back, so no framing is necessary, unless one prefers it framed.

and then above the dark storms of our world, the angel. Bright stars of hope on the her breath spill down to earth. In grace she rides the winds of twilight in her winged cloak of star-dusted heaven. Her joy is what she brings to those who reach out for their dreams."
